Last week Joan was in Hannover, on this occasion in his MORPHOSIS DUO guise alongside the equally-relentless Joan Bagés i Rubí, having been chosen to perform their innovative ‘This is not a fad!’ programme in the prestigious Showcase section of this important gathering.

The programme itself showcases a selection of female contemporary composers – Mercè Capdevila, Hanna Hartmann, Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska, Olga Neuwirth and Manon Lepauvre – and pieces written specifically for the baritone saxophone and/or electronics. Joan Martí-Frasquier provides the championed instrument and Joan Bagés brings his trademark electronics Wizardy. As if this recipe wasn’t sufficiently tasty, considered lighting provides yet another dimension.
