Last night José Sanchís led the Orquesta Sinfónica CaixaBank – aided superbly by the voice of soprano Susana Cordón – in a tribute to victims of the COVID-19 pandemic – and the collectives hardest hit by this ongoing tragedy.
The programme was developed with particular focus on the themes of hope, courage and strength; José ensured the musicians delivered a powerful performance – and the audience replied with prolonged ovations.
It was an emotional night without doubt. But also a clear display of the power of music in uniting people in challenging circumstances – and generating positivity.
